Victory Pickleball Academy

Frequently asked questions

Everything administrators and parents ask us about bringing Victory Pickleball Academy to a school, co-op, or homeschool community — screening, scheduling, equipment, pricing, and funding.

For School Administrators

How are your coaches screened?

Every coach clears a Level 2 (FDLE/FBI) background check before stepping on campus. Screening is completed before a coach ever works with your students — no exceptions.

What training do coaches complete?

Coaches complete SafeSport-equivalent training in youth safety, and PPR-certified instructors are the coaching standard for every VPA program.

When do sessions run? Our schedule is already full.

The program drops into time you already have: a unit inside your PE block, a standalone elective, an after-school enrichment block, or co-op days. Most programs run 1–3 sessions per week, and you can start with a short pilot in your existing schedule.

What equipment do we need to provide?

None. VPA brings everything — portable nets, paddles, balls, and temporary lines — and handles setup, instruction, and program oversight for every session. There is nothing for your school to buy, store, or staff.

What space do we need? We have no dedicated courts.

You don’t need courts. Our portable nets and temporary lines set up in gyms, on blacktops, and in multipurpose rooms. If your students have a place to move, we can run the program there.

How is pricing structured?

Pricing is scoped to three variables: the grade bands you serve, how many sessions run per week, and your funding mix — including Step Up For Students as our approved-provider status progresses. We don’t publish flat rates because every school’s format differs. Use Request a Proposal on our For Schools page and we’ll quote your exact program.

Can our families use Step Up For Students?

VPA is pursuing approved-provider status with Step Up For Students; we are not yet an approved provider. Our funding page explains the scholarship programs and where we stand, and we’ll update it the moment that changes.

How does a pilot start?

It starts with a demo or consultation — we meet your team and learn your space and schedule. Then a 6–8 week pilot lets you evaluate fit with minimal commitment, and we supply a written proposal and supporting documentation for board or administrator sign-off.

Does this fit our PE and SEL goals?

Yes. The program supports recognized Physical Education outcomes — movement competency, motor-skill development, and lifelong fitness — alongside Social-Emotional Learning goals like self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. It’s additive to existing racket and court sports, not a replacement.

Ready to see numbers for your school? We’ll scope a written proposal to your grades, schedule, and funding mix.

For Parents

What does a session look like, and how long do programs run?

Coaches open each session with one of 50 character words, then move through warm-ups, skill drills, and supervised gameplay. Sessions fit the schedule block your school or co-op already has — a PE period, elective slot, or after-school window — and programs typically run as 12–16 week semesters, 1–3 sessions per week, with shorter 6–8 week pilots.

What ages and grades can play?

Programs are built for grades 4–12, with activities adapted to age and ability.

Does my child need experience?

No. The program is built for first-timers and experienced players alike — most kids are rallying within their very first session. Coaches meet each child where they are.

Do we need to buy equipment?

No. Victory Pickleball Academy provides the nets, paddles, and balls for every session.

What is the character program?

Every session opens with one of 50 character words — like Effort, Grit, Respect, and Sportsmanship. Coaches define the word simply, connect it to the game, reinforce it through drills, and close by asking players where it shows up off the court.

What does it cost?

It depends on the setting. In many school and co-op programs, the school or organization funds the program, so there’s no direct cost to families. In parent-funded settings, pricing is scoped per program — ask your school, or contact us and we’ll point you to specifics. We never quote one-size-fits-all rates.

Can we use Step Up For Students?

Not yet — VPA is pursuing approved-provider status with Step Up For Students. Our funding page explains how the scholarship programs work and where we stand, and we’ll share updates as approval progresses.

Is it safe?

Every coach clears a Level 2 (FDLE/FBI) background check before stepping on campus and completes SafeSport-equivalent training in youth safety. Sessions run with age-appropriate drills, controlled class sizes, and supervised gameplay — and pickleball itself is generally lower-impact than many traditional youth sports.
